Singapore Police Force needed to address misconceptions about policing in a format people would meet on social media. Red Ink conceived and named a four-video series that made each question watchable before giving the factual answer.

THE STORY BEHIND THE FILM

01

The communication problem

Misconceptions about policing can be difficult to correct with a formal explainer alone. SPF needed clear answers that respected the facts and its public responsibilities, but the audience might encounter them while moving quickly through a feed. Red Ink's task was to make the subject approachable without making the institution or the people watching the target of the joke.

02

A four-part format with a reason to watch

Red Ink's writers and researchers gathered common myths, then built a short situation around each one. The skit comes first: a recognisable misunderstanding, a character choice and a moment of humour. The factual component follows once the story has earned attention. This gave all four videos a repeatable structure while leaving room for different settings and performers. Red Ink did not simply film a supplied script; it conceived and named the series, researched, wrote, cast and produced it.

Production inside real constraints

Four films were shot across two days. Locations and settings included a void deck, roadside, car interior, police station and SPF premises. The cast combined hired performers with police officers. Some officers were not accustomed to acting on camera, so rehearsal and direction helped their performances feel natural rather than staged. The production had to keep the pace and humour of a short social film while managing multiple layers of Government review, factual accuracy and communication boundaries.

Response and commercial significance

Across the four videos, the series drew 381,000 views, 5,800 likes, 840 shares and 2,200 comments. The work demonstrates more than access to a Government client. It shows Red Ink able to develop a format, write and cast it, direct professional and non-professional performers, produce across several settings and carry an entertaining idea through stakeholder scrutiny.
